A classic case of “this is how we started, and now we’re here.”
Two couples. Two sets of best friends. One lot – and one teardown – to launch their multi-unit adventure in Ottawa.
Armed with a set of plans from a drafting team, the kind of drawing set that did the job for their previous rental builds, these clients changed course mid way. It was time to take a different approach when it came to creating their own residences. While searching for a design firm to help them reimagine their project, research led them straight to us through our output and digital footprint.
What began as a cookie-cutter rectangular elevation with punched windows became one of the most riveting semi-detached transformations we have ever envisioned.
They wanted separation, but with distinction.
Inspired by the unique male-female synergy we witnessed in our meetings with the two married couples; we introduced curves into the design—The two women at the heart of the project and the close-knit bond they had shaped our design. We deliberately softened the elevations animating the resulting renderings to reflect their flowing and dynamic personalities strongly supported by their everlasting friendship, which remain at the core of the project.
Completion is anticipated in winter 2026.
